Tulip Clothing began in 2011, when the brother and sister team of Richard Anderson and Debbie Seabold saw a need for more quality, cotton apparel in the market, and opened shop in a home basement in Silver Spring. The line, which features generously sized clothing for a chic, comfortable and conscious lifestyle, was an instant hit.
In the summer of 2014, Kevin Ames and Mathew Wilmer decided to start a landscaping business to earn some extra cash. The twenty-year-olds were each headed into their junior years of college (Loyola for Wilmer, Towson University for Ames), and after their first venture paid off, they wondered what else they might team up on.
In 2009, designer Karen Bene founded her company, Blazers by Design, on the idea there are more ways for women to feel powerful in work clothes, than wearing a boring black pantsuit.
