Get ready to shop for a great cause this weekend, when House of Ruth Maryland invites holiday shoppers to their 12th annual B-More Bags Trunk Show and Sale on December 9, at Ruth’s Closet in Owings Mills.

The event features a sale of unique, locally made handbags, with all profits benefitting House of Ruth Maryland.

“Proceeds from the sale of B-More Bags support the programs and services at House of Ruth Maryland that help victims of intimate partner violence stay safe,” said Cherilyn Parlaman, House of Ruth Maryland’s chief communications officer. The organization’s programs include a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, legal services and an abuse intervention program, she said.

House of Ruth Maryland’s mission is to end intimate partner violence against women and their children “by confronting attitudes, behaviors and systems that perpetuate it,” according to its website. The nonprofit also offers services to victims to rebuild their lives. House of Ruth Maryland has served more than 100,000 people since its founding in 1977.

B-More Bags is a project organized and operated by volunteers in Maryland, who raise money for House of Ruth Maryland by creating and selling a line of handbags and accessory bags. All bags are designed and sewn by volunteers throughout the year, and sold each December at Ruth’s Closet, House of Ruth Maryland’s resale boutique at the Valley Village Shopping Center in Owings Mills.

This year’s event will include market bags, card cases, bottle bags, tote bags, weekender bags and more for sale. Each bag makes an affordable, functional and unique gift idea for the holidays, with prices ranging from $12-$125.

The B-more Bags Trunk Show and Sale will be held Dec. 9, from 10 a.m–5 p.m at 9131 Reisterstown Road.
