The unrest in Baltimore has become the first big test of U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch. In fact, one of Lynch’s first duties after she was sworn in on April 27, was to brief President Barack Obama on the riots.
And today, she and others from the Department of Justice are coming to Baltimore to meet with city officials, members of Congress, law-enforcement officials, and faith and community leaders.
According to CNN, Obama is considering a trip to Baltimore as well, but felt that his presence would be too much of a burden in an unstable situation.
