The next generation of athletes will always have role models to look back on when they consider Maryland athletes’ impressive gold medal run at the Rio Olympics. But there are also some more tangible rewards.
Anne Arundel Medical Center received a surprise shipment of Nike baby shoes this week. It was in honor of Matthew Centrowitz’ historic gold medal run in the 1,500-meter race last week. The Broadneck native was the first American in 100 years to win the middle distance event.
They were a special limited edition, and won’t be sold in stores. Each pair also received a note to inspire the future runners and other athletes.
It’s not limited to babies born at AAMC. They’ll select a mom who shares a photo on the hospital’s Facebook page to receive a pair of the shoes.
