Once again, the Sugarloaf Crafts Festival is bringing some of the best American artists and artisans to the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium. For the weekend of April 24-26, you can stroll the fairgrounds and stock up on unique handmade gifts in anticipation of Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, graduations, and weddings. And of course, you can always just shop for yourself. And while the craft show features work by artists from all over the country, a number of Baltimore area artists will be present, as well. Look for 3Clothing by Nikki Gordon, clay monsters by Cat Holt, and great jewelry from Mary DeMarco-Wolfe.Sugarloaf is a rigorously juried craft show, so every artist present has been chosen based on
the superior quality of their work (some of which can even be found in museums, galleries and private collections throughout the nation). However, that’s not to say it’s just for window shopping. There’s a such a huge variety represented, that it’s no understatement to say that there truly is something for everyone. Besides the fantastic shopping, you can also watch master craftspeople share their skills in live demonstrations– perfect for entertaining curious kiddos (and adults, too). There will be live music, costumed storytelling for children, and of course the “Festival of Foods”– the perfect place to refuel while you take in the amazing work of some of the country’s finest artisans.
The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival will be held Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Maryland State Fairgrounds (2200 York Rd in Timonium). For more information, visit www.sugarloafcrafts.
