The city’s aim to welcome refugees was on display on the first day of school in one neighborhood this year.
The area surrounding Beechfield is a home for refugees resettling from Syria. According to Baltimore City Schools, students from the community were welcomed on Monday at Beechfield Elementary/Middle School. Teachers and staff hosted a “Welcome Day” for the students, as well as their families. They received a tour, and staff helped families what resources were available.
“We are excited and happy to receive you and your children into our school,” Principal Renee Browning said, according to BCPS.
