You can go on a ghost tour any time, but get real– the ghostiest ghost tour you’ll ever go on will be around Halloween time. And sure, we’ve still got a couple of weeks to go, but ghosts know when the candy aisles start to groan with pumpkin-shaped everything, so they tend to come out around then. So whether you’re already in the Halloween mood or you need something to kick it off for you, we suggest a genuine Baltimore Ghost Tour. You can take a tour of Mt. Vernon or Fells Point (the ghostier choice, in our humble opinion) but either way, you’ll have spookily knowledgeable guide and a scarily good time. And if you think you’ll need a shot of courage to get through it, might we suggest the Haunted Pub tour.
The Haunted Pub Crawl isn’t all just carousing and merry-making, of course. It’s a complete tour of historic Fells Point, and the guides promise that “even when it’s freezing outside you’ll stay toasty and warm…but if your arms break out into goosebumps, and the hair on your neck stands up, it may be because ghost sightings have happened right where you are sitting.” You’ll hear tales of each haunted tavern (who knew there were so many?) and ghost stories of nearby sites. Much scarier than when they turn on the lights at last call, we say.
Baltimore Ghost Tours offer a variety of walks and tours on weekends, with tours during the week available for groups. For more information, or to book a reservation (recommended) visit www.baltimoreghosttours.com.
