After being shown cell phone video of man being punched in the face by a Baltimore police officer before being arrested, police have begun an investigation into the incident.
The video is only a minute long, and the department says it doesn’t tell the larger story, it does seem to contradict the probable cause statement drawn up by the arresting officer, which states that 19-year-old Antonio Moore “without warning began rapidly advancing towards me in a threatening, hostile manner so I placed my arm out to create a distance and halted his advance.”
In the video we see the officer thrust his hand at Moore, who bats it away. The officer then immediately punches Moore in the face.
Moore, who has been charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct, considers the video “proof [that he] didn’t try to attack the officer.”
