Several Republican presidential hopefuls have stumbled over the question of whether, knowing what we know now, it was the right decision to invade Iraq in 2003. Not Ben Carson! The conservative neurosurgeon knows exactly what he thinks of the Iraq War.
Carson told The Hill that he “was never in favor of going into Iraq.” In fact, he’s spoken frankly about it in his books.
Not that he didn’t think Saddam Hussein was a “problem.” But he “would have gotten rid of the problem of Saddam Hussein some other way.” He went on: “When you go into a situation with so many factions and such a complex history, unless you know what you’re doing or have a long-term strategy, it just creates more problems.”
Another slightly surprising facet of Carson: he is the only openly vegetarian major party hopeful.
Anti-(at least this particular) war? Vegetarian? This hippie doesn’t have a chance.
