Sometimes we recommend things because they’ve our top faves. Sometimes we just think we’ve found something the world needs to know about. But sometimes, it’s just because we see something and we’re like, “OMG. I Need that. Now.” And so it was when we realized that Baltimore Yoga Village will be offering a one-day workshop on breathing. And it’s coming really, really soon. Can you hear our lungs (and minds and senses of well-being) going “ahhhhhh”?
But why spend a whole day focusing on breath, you ask? According to practitioner Heather Davis, who’ll be leading the August 16th workshop, “How we breathe affects how we live!” Yup. “By simply changing how you breathe, you can reduce stress, release tension and open to your fullest potential, while engaging your most precious life sustaining resource, the breath. Through breathing, movement, meditation and sound we’ll discover and balance the body, heart, mind and spirit centers.” And if you’ve ever practiced yoga or any type of meditation, you know this. It’s why we’re encouraged to take ten deep breaths when we’re feeling stressed or angry. And yet, it’s one of those things that’s so simple and natural that we often overlook it. But thanks to Heather and this workshop, we’re being led back to remembering to keep it simple. Breathe.
Breath of Fresh Air: A summer day of breathing with Heather Davis will be offered at Baltimore Yoga Village (At the Hampden studio, located in the Historic Mill Centre, 3000 Chestnut Avenue in Baltimore) on Saturday, August 16th from 1pm-3pm.
