Maybe we’re a little late to this particular party. Brown Rice, the new Korean restaurant in town, has been open since the beginning of the year, but for some reason it’s taken us this long to listen to what everyone’s been saying: this place is great. Brown Rice is kind of quintessential Korean food in that it’s flavorful, made with simple ingredients, and even though it’s mighty tasty, you can tell it’s cooked in such a way that it’s gotta be pretty good for you.
A friend recently described it as “the Chipotle of Korean food,” which, really we don’t think does the place justice. But it does get the point across. It’s casual but classy. And there’ s a perfect combination of special menu items and the opportunity to build your own meal (bibimbap style). The Charles Village community is already atwitter about the place, with neighbors all raving about how this is exactly what they’ve been waiting for forever. Now it’s only a matter of time until the rest of the city catches on, and Brown Rice goes from local secret to destination lunch spot. Make the trip while you can still get a table.
Brown Rice is located at 2404 N.Charles Street in Baltimore. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
