You may know Canton-based company OrderUp because you use it to order food for delivery via the Internet. Or, you may have seen their promotional stickers all over the city, on garbage cans, light poles, even construction cones. After a Reddit user complained about the stickers affixed on public property and admonished the company to “leave this place better off than you found it,” OrderUp swiftly apologized.
And as Baltimore Business Journal notes, it’s a pretty good apology. In their own Reddit post the company promised to donate $500 to the Maryland Food Bank and to limit their sticker handouts moving forward. They also said they’ve “lined up charity events to continue to support the local community.”
And it may have worked. While some refused to forgive the company for the guerrilla marketing, the thread that followed was dominated by users expressing their interest in using the service.
