Is it just us, or is enjoyment of Cajun and Zydeco music a thing that all dads love? We’re not sure exactly what causes this phenomenon, but we do know that the folks behind Ladew Gardens’ Groovin’ in the Grass summer music series are obviously aware of it. That’s why they’re bringing perennial favorite, The Crawdaddies to Ladew’s Great Bowl on Sunday, June 15th (Father’s Day). The Great Bowl is an ideal setting for laying down a picnic blanket, relaxing to great tunes, and maybe even sipping a little something besides. Of course, if you can’t make it this weekend, there’s plenty more where that came from, all summer long. And there’s plenty to choose from—for dad and the rest of the family.
Next month, Ladew’s Fourth of July celebration will feature a dynamic 30-piece steel drum orchestra, bringing the music of Trinidad and Tobago straight to Harford County. And if all that isn’t enough to whet your musical appetite, be sure to check to full line up; you’ll find the Delta Blues, Mambo, and plenty of rock for those who love the classics. And of course, no matter who’s playing, you’ll be taking it all in from the gorgeous Ladew Gardens, under a Maryland summer sky. For all concerts, tickets are available at the door, and admission includes visiting the gardens, so be sure to build in time for that. Picnics, blankets, and chairs are welcome, with food and refreshments available for purchase as well.
Groovin’ in the Grass, Ladew Gardens’ summer concert series, begins Friday, June 6th. Concerts are from 6pm-8pm throughout the season. For more information and to view the complete schedule, visit www.ladewgardens.com.
