As the mother of Wes Moore, whose memoir about overcoming the obstacles that face a fatherless young black man was a huge bestseller, Joy Moore is constantly asked: How did you do it? How can you be a good parent, have a career and stay healthy when you don’t have a partner to pick up the slack?
Joy’s answer is “presence.” In The Power of Presence: Be a Voice in Your Child’s Ear Even When You’re Not With Them, Moore explores seven pillars: heart, faith, mind, courage, financial freedom, values, and connectedness–that all parents can use to positively influence their children.
Joy Moore will speak at the Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles Street in North Baltimore on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. The event is presented in partnership with the Pratt Library’s “Writers Live” Series, and is free and open to the public. For more information, click here.
