The “knockout game” is one those things that shakes one’s faith in youth. If you have never heard of it, the goal of the so-called game is to punch a stranger in the head so hard that he or she passes out instantly. Of course, not only is it senselessly violent, but people can die. And in New York, New Jersey, and Missouri, they have died.
Baltimore was the site of two recent “knockout game” incidents. Over the weekend, a group of young people punched a man in the head near the Baltimore Harbor Hotel. Last week two brothers were attacked by a group of 20.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake spoke out against the attacks, saying the kids “don’t understand the consequences.”
