If you’ve ever visited, or ordered flowers from Dutch Floral Garden— you already know that it’s a completely unique floral shop. The blooms and arrangements are absolutely stunning and unlike anything else you’re likely to find this side of the Atlantic. That’s thanks to the artistic vision and deft hands of owner and floral designer Paula Dobbe-Maher, who uses old world know-how to fashion gorgeous arrangements that she builds one stem at a time. Dobbe-Maher grew up surrounded by flowers–her parents owned a nursery. So it’s no surprise that she’s made a life of building on traditional floral design. But her latest unveiling– the Roaming Dutch Floral Garden (that is, a sustainably engineered, state-of-the-art flower truck) is truly a revolution for those of us who love flowers.
The Roaming Dutch Floral Garden is a specially built mobile florist that makes purchasing fresh, gorgeous flowers more convenient than ever. You can choose from ready-to-go bouquets, or hand select the blooms you want. If you happen to spot the truck but were hoping for a bouquet for a future event, you can simply order right there on Friday for Saturday pick-up, or home delivery. Besides fresh flowers, the roaming shop also offers unusual plants for purchase. It’s an extraordinary development in the world of floral design– one which took more than its share of problem solving.
“For at least 5 years I have been playing with the idea of a flower truck,” says Dobbe-Maher. “I would like flowers to be a part of your already busy lives and I’m trying to make it easier to include their beauty and positive effects in your homes and spaces.” Wow. Thank you, Paula. Wouldn’t it be great if more people were working to help us make beautifying our lives that much easier? But perhaps the coolest part of the roaming floral shop? Dobbe-Maher’s truck features a completely solar powered cooler for the flowers. It’s the first of its kind in the US, and means that Dutch Floral Garden is even more sustainable than ever. So as you gaze into the beautifully arranged cooler, practically overflowing with blossoms, you’ll know that this is a florist who cares about keeping the environment outside your home beautiful as well.
