The Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse team has captured three out of the last four Patriot League championships, and they’re hungry for a win today against Navy, the only program to interrupt their recent streak of conference dominance.
The Hounds and the Midshipmen will have a rematch today, one year after Navy won the conference final and launched an NCAA Tournament run that ended in the Final Four. Loyola, ranked eighth in the country, hasn’t lost since April 5, and rebounded two days later to beat Navy 16-12. The Midshipmen, meanwhile, are ranked 11th nationally, have won all matches since the loss to Loyola and are looking to repeat as conference champs.
The game, scheduled for noon, should be a good one, with plenty of talent on the field. As PressBox recently noted, 18 players combined between the two programs received all-conference honors this year.
Tickets free to download, game starts at noon, Ridley Athletic Complex, 2221 W. Cold Spring Lane, (410) 617-1420, loyolagreyhounds.com/tickets.
