We love following local fashion designers and tastemakers. It combines a life-long passion for couture with our dedication to supporting local culture and small business. Plus, in recent years, Baltimore has only grown as a hotspot where young creative geniuses can start a life and make their visions thrive. So thank goodness someone had the bright idea a few years ago to start up Fashion Awards MD—an award night that highlights, celebrates and recognizes the talents of those who have made contributions to the fashion industry in the state of Maryland and beyond. This year will be the third of its kind; last year’s events both sold out (of course), so take it from us: if local fashion is your thing, get those tickets today.
The main event of Fashion Awards MD takes place Saturday, June 21st. There will be dozens of categories ranging from photography to makeup, media to wardrobe, hair stylists to models and beyond—recognizing every corner of the fashion industry. Oh, and did we mention it’s being hosted by Jaslene Gonzalez—winner of America’s Next Top Model? Yeah, no biggie. The awards honor both fresh emerging talent and trail blazers who have already had an influence over their years in the industry. It’s a place where you can rub elbows with our state’s top fashion nominees, or simply bask in the commonality you share with others who just love fashion. And of course it’s the place to show off that ensemble that’s just too daring to wear to anything but an event celebrating clothing design. Either that or it’s an excuse to run out and buy that something daring, just for the occasion.
Fashion Awards MD 2014 takes place Saturday, June 21st at 6:30pm at MICA’s Brown Center (1301 W Mount Royal Ave) in Baltimore. For tickets and more information, visit www.fashionawardsmd.com.
