Okay. There are a few choice occasions when venturing down 95 to D.C. for a good time is admissible. But only a few. After all, what do they have that we don’t? I mean, besides the whole Federal Government thing. But when you do head down there, it should really be for a blow-out bash kind of affair– one you’ve planned, shopped, and appropriately coiffed for. One perfect opportunity? The Fashion for Fighters Gala. This event (the first of what will hopefully be an annual tradition) will raise funds for wounded, ill and injured U.S. Navy, Coast Guardsmen and their families, and it’s the chicest black tie (medals optional) event of the season.
Fashion for Fighters is a night for comradery, support and giving back. Guests will enjoy fashion shows by four local women’s and menswear designers (including our own beloved Christopher Schafer). After the fashion shows, all are invited to cut a rug on the dance floor with local DJs spinning your favorite hits all night. The event is hosted by the Navy Safe Harbor Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting the recovery of Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, and their families by assisting them with resources not currently provided by government or community resources. VIP tickets holders will be treated to an exclusive fashion presentation starting at 6:00 pm, open bar and passed hors d’oeuvres. And of course, there will be swag bags, too. It’s the perfect way to contribute to a great cause, and increase your own fabulousness rating big-time. Tickets are on sale now.
The Fashion for Fighters Gala takes place Saturday, May 16th at the Army Navy Club in Washington D.C. For more information or tickets, visit the event page.
