Fells Point is always fun, but one weekend a year, it is especially fun. Or at least the neighborhood marks the weekend with a giant festival, the Fells Point Fun Fest, where everyone goes out, seamen style. With its focus on celebrating Fells Point’s maritime history, the festival includes dock tours and the opportunity to take a day sail on the Pride of Baltimore II. All “funlubbers”—as the festival organizers put it—can also enjoy entertainment throughout the neighborhood, including old fashioned magic by Eric Henning as well as performances by jugglers and absolutely astounding hula-hoopers. But wait, there’s more!
It wouldn’t be a Fun Fest if the fun was all just for kids (I mean, it could be, but we like to mix it up). There will also be three different gardens where the libations and the tunes will be flowing throughout the weekend. You can check out bands like the Ed Lauer Band, All Natural, Hijo E Plena, and more. And then, of course, there’s already everything that makes Fells Point fabulous every day: the shopping, the gelato, the seafood, the views. It just doesn’t get better (or, funner) than this.
Fells Point Fun Fest takes place Friday, Oct 3 through Sunday, October 5. For a complete listing of events and more information, visit www.fellspointfunfest.com.
