Attention all lovers of cupcakes, pastries, and epic battles: Flavor Cupcakery has yet another feather in their spun-sugar cap. This past week, Flavor trounced the competition in Fox45’s Cupcake Battle. We’re not sure who makes these things official, or how one gets appointed to the high court of buttercream evaluators, but it certainly seems clear that whatever honors one can bestow upon a cupcake (or its creator) are well deserved by Flavor and its owner Shelley Stannard.
Stannard started out with a simple goal: to create cupcakes that were so delicious and so beautiful that they’d serve as no-fail ways to brighten someone’s day. She committed to high-quality and seasonal ingredients, and to having a fun-loving, creative staff and went from there. Flavor quickly won the hearts (and tastebuds) of its local community, but things really got cooking when Stannard and her pastry chef Jason Hisley won Season 4 of the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. The victory brought Flavor even more attention and the ability to expand its operations.
Everyday at Flavor you can find 14 different cupcake flavors (like Chocolate Cherry Wassail, Boston Cream Pie, and Tres Leches) including vegan and gluten-free options.
Having fabulous local businesses like Flavor thrive in our community (while making our lives so much sweeter) is yet another reason to love Baltimore. Why not celebrate with a cupcake?
Flavor now has two locations (118 North Tollgate Road in Bel Air and 10253 York Road in Cockeysville). Flavor also has a mobile cupcakery—their delivery van doubles as a pop-up cupcake shop and can often be spied on the streets of Baltimore City. For flavor calendars and to track the cupcake van, visit www.flavorcupcakery.com or like them on Facebook.
