Students hoping to avoid the flu this year will have to face the needle.
A shortage of FluMist led Anne Arundel County schools to cancel plans to protect children from the flu via nasal spray. According to WBAL-TV, Baltimore County and Harford County are facing similar shortages. The shortage can be traced to Gaithersburg-based manufacturer MedImmune, which encountered issues with production. FluMist will be available later in flu season.
The shortage of the nasal spray doesn’t mean people have to go without treatment, however. Doctors say flu shots are still widely available. Just what you wanted to hear, right kids?
