The season of pumpkin is set to return, and Flying Dog is using it as a time to try something new.

The beloved Maryland brewery is teaming up with a Carroll County-based Salazon Chocolate Co. to release a new chocolate bar. Along with checking the box on vices of the alcoholic and sweet variety, pumpkin is also incorporated to fill the fall fix.

Flying Dog contributed ingredients from its Gourd Standard IPA beer for the bar, including German Nobel hops, a pumpkin spice blend and sea salt that is infused with the beer. The result is a 72 percent organic chocolate bar.

“We’ve all seen chocolate paired with wine, but it actually pairs just as well with craft beer,” Pete Truby, founder of Salazon Chocolate Co., said in a statement.

The seasonal offering is set to be unwrapped Sept. 1, and will be available at select Whole Foods, MOM’s and Safeway locations, among other stores.
