Spend enough time at the gym or going to fitness classes and you’re likely to see your body start to slim down. But more often than not, you’ll likely see your wallet start to slim down, too. Sure, our bodies are temples, but sometimes the cost of maintenance for those temples (particularly those that could qualify for the historic registry) can add up. But thank goodness for the good people behind Waterfront Wellness—the series that offers free fitness classes, including yoga, boxing boot camp, Parkour and Zumba, from 8:00am to 10:00am most Saturdays and Sundays all summer long at West Shore Park.
These public classes are suitable for all skill levels (though you must be at least 18 to participate) and are taught by local professionals in the wellness industry. On Sundays you can take a Boxing Boot Camp with Knockout Fitness at 8 a.m. or Zumba with Canton Club at 9 a.m. Show up Sunday for yoga with Charm City Yoga , followed by Parkour with Urban Evolution. Not only will you get a fabulous free workout, you’ll get to enjoy the beautiful Inner Harbor as the class’ backdrop. Kind of beats the fluorescent lights and mirrors of the gym, huh? And while the classes are free, registration is requested in advance, but can easily be done online (and just once is enough to get you into the whole season of classes). Any excuses left for not getting your workout in this summer? Didn’t think so.
