Gas prices are pretty low right. The average in Maryland is $3.08 per gallon.
And I know this may sound insane, but AAA Manager Ragina Cooper Averella says gas prices across the country are going to drop another 10 or 20 cents per gallon by the end of the year. In case you’re weak on arithmetic, let me just tell you that would put the average below three bucks a gallon. (Isolated “under-three” sightings have already occurred in Salisbury and parts of Baltimore.)
It’s a little ridiculous how excited I get at the prospect of falling gas prices. What am I gonna do? Bring a bunch of canisters and stock up? I guess I’ll just smile at the digital readout when I put 10 gallons of gas in my car for less than $30. Maybe I’ll even Instagram it. Nah, I’ll just frame the receipt and hang it on the wall next to pictures of my family.
For years to come I will glance at it before I go to bed, and — shedding a single tear — I will whisper: “We’ll always have $2.879; we’ll always have $2.879.”
