Better Dress Sale

Proms, brunches, the races, and weddings, weddings, weddings. For us, anyway, the warm months ahead always bring with them more than their share of social occasions. And now that we can finally put away our coats and wool tights (and whatever—if it gets cold again, we’ll just suffer), we are out-of-control ready to start showing off our warm weather wardrobe. By that, we mean that we’re working really hard put together a whole new one for this year. And with events like the Junior League of Baltimore’s annual Better Dress Sale (going on this weekend), really, what’s to stop us?

The Junior League of Baltimore is made up of a diverse group of women dedicated to voluntarism and community development. Members of the leagues have worked on local initiatives tackling issues from domestic violence to education and empowerment for young women. Every year, The Wise Penny (a resale boutique benefiting the JLB) hosts their Better Dress Sale, which is full of specially donated new and gently used designer dresses at great prices. The sale is free and open to the public, but for $10, you can attend the preview brunch, which happens from 8am until 10am and gives you “first dibs” on all the treasures waiting to be scooped up. The sale then opens to the public at 10am, at which point it’s anybody’s game.

The Better Dress Sale takes place on Saturday, April 13th from 10am until 5pm at the Wise Penny (5092 York Road). More information can be found, and tickets for the preview brunch at 8am can be purchased at www.jlbalt.org.
