catch of the day fish (2)Need some proof that the most wonderful time of the year is really upon us? Well, you can’t really get much more magical than our favorite new local holiday tradition– Window Wonderland in Harbor East. It’s the absolutely fabulous collaboration between Maryland Art Place and Harbor East that brings the vision and work of local artists to the holiday windows of Harbor East’s top shopping destinations. And the big unveiling happens this Wednesday, November 19th. Be sure to head on down from 5:30-8:30pm to tour the windows, meet the artists and watch as a specially appointed panel of judges choose their favorite, and award a  $1000 cash prize the the “Best in Show.” There will also be carolers (of course), acrobats, street performers, ice sculptures and festive music to fill the streets with enough holiday cheer to last you well into December and beyond. And with a chill in the air, you’ll want to warm up indoors as participating Window Wonderland retailers offer complimentary refreshments and treats; plus you can enjoy drink specials and extended happy hours from participating restaurants.

Window Wonderland will be on display from Wednesday through New Year’s Day– so even if you can’t make the big unveiling, you’ve got plenty of time to make sure you catch the exquisite displays (and the amazing shopping in the neighborhood, too!) all season long.  Some of the participating Harbor East merchants include Amaryllis Handcrafted Jewelry, BIN 604, City Sports, Courtyard Marriott, Haute Blow Dry Bar, Lebanese Taverna, Loafers and Laces, Sassanova, South Moon Under, Taco Fiesta, Talara, and White House Black Market. And for those with families in tow, be sure to make it to the big “Milk and Cookies Social” a (cool) progeny play date, from 5:30PM-7:30PM during the unveiling. The Maryland Athletic Club (The MAC) Harbor East will transform into a holiday workshop offering kids crafts and activities including face painting, ornament making and much more. It’s totally free, but they do request that you RSVP so they can be sure to prepare for all of Santa’s helpers. And if you show $100 in same-day receipts from participating merchants, you’ll receive five hours of FREE parking at a Harbor East self park garage. That means an evening of holiday magic, getting to shop ’til you drop, and a little gift back to you from the folks at Harbor East. Now that’s holiday spirit.

Harbor East’s Window Wonderland debuts on Wednesday, November 19th from 5:30pm-8:30pm. For more information, visit their website.
