With Baltimore’s prime location between Washington D.C. (our nation’s capital, you know) and Philadelphia (where this whole “independent nation” thing got started) we’ve got plenty of options for places to see some of the most spectacular, no-holds-barred fireworks displays for July 4th. And since this year our country’s birthday falls on a Friday—it’s sure to be an extra-celebratory night no matter where you go. But for us, we like to keep it simple and close to home. Baltimore is a city that knows how to throw a good party, after all. And nothing makes viewing fireworks better than the backdrop of our gorgeous bay.
The Ports America Chesapeake Fourth of July Celebration takes place Friday, July 4 from 4pm to 10pm. If having the absolute best view of the fireworks is your priority, Top of the World Observation Level offers Picnic at the Top from 7:30pm to 10pm, where you can take in a 360-degree view of Baltimore as well as have the best view of the vibrant fireworks display. If you’re not headed quite so far (27 floors) up, don’t worry. The holiday fireworks can be viewed from several locations in downtown and the surrounding areas, including Federal Hill, Fell’s Point and Harbor East. So wherever you choose to view from, just make sure there’s some good seafood and sangria or local beer nearby, and kick off the holiday weekend with a bang.
Baltimore’s July 4th fireworks display takes play this Friday at 9:30pm, with other entertainment and activities happening throughout the day. For more information, visit www.promotionandarts.org.
