catch of the day fish (2)Confession time. We are avid watchers of all those competitive cooking shows. Chopped, Hell’s Kitchen, Cupcake Wars, you name it. And it’s not just because of the mouth watering offerings that contestants come up with. It’s also because whether they’re seasoned professional chefs or just obsessive amateurs, every contestant knows more about food and technique than we thought there was to know. And thanks to chef Nancy Longo at Pierpoint Restaurant, some of these sought after skills can be yours when you sign up for one of Pierpoint’s awesome cooking classes.

Chef Nancy’s two most popular, trademark classes are Fish Class and Knife Skills. Fish Class explains how to cook multiple varieties of fish, how to clean fish, fish safety, and then moves on to sauces and seafood soups. Knife Skills covers the essentials of how to bone a chicken, cut meat, and filet fish.  It will also cover basic use of different knives, classic vegetable cuts and how to sharpen knives as well. Both classes will be offered in October, but they fill up fast, so we’re letting you know now. If you’re itching to sharpen your kitchen skills sooner than that, check out Chef Nancy’s Modern Italian class this Sunday. August 24. They’ll cover sauces, antipasto, seafood, cooking with truffle, and of course, dessert.
