There’s a lot of attention that comes with holding the title of Miss Maryland, but state police say one man went too far.
Police arrested Valencio F. Pires on charges of harassing and stalking Hannah Brewer, the 19-year-old from Carroll County who was crowned Miss Maryland earlier this summer. State Police say Brewer filed a report saying she was receiving “frightening and unwanted contact” from Pires. He was seen in photographs “intently and intensely staring at Brewer” at an event on August 15. He has also attempted to contact her via email and social media, even after being told to stop, police said. Pires is being held without bond at the Carroll County Detention Center.
Brewer is preparing for the Miss America pageant, which is set to be held September 11.
