Ugh. Here’s 2015’s most cringe-worthy quote so far. In a Baltimore Sun article about a Cockeysville man who spent five days in the Baltimore City Detention Center after being identified in a home invasion despite having been in Walt Disney World when it occurred, police spokeswoman Lt. Sarah Connolly is quoted as saying a detective “went the extra mile” by going all the way to the state’s attorney’s office to have the bogus charges dropped.
Shawn Oliver’s attorney told the Sun that he’s pleased with prosecutors and detectives for investigating his client’s alibi — supported by several pieces of evidence including a souvenir photo following a helicopter ride timestamped two hours after the crime was committed — but expressed frustration that an arrest was made without any evidence to corroborate the witness identification.
