Michael A. Allred, who was recently hired by Maryland corrections and public safety secretary Stephen T. Moyer as a StateState coordinator and police liaison, was fired over an “inappropriate” Facebook comment, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Here’s what Allred posted:

“Visiting the prisons…haven’t been groped this much since the flight on the honeymoon…and this is just the guards!”

As far as embarrassing moments for Maryland corrections, I would say this ranks somewhere below discovering that a prison had been taken over by a criminal gang, the members of which had fathered children with correctional officers. (By the way, none of that happened on Moyer’s watch.) But it is pretty darn disrespectful to the guards.

In a written statement, Moyer said he “has the utmost respect for correctional officers and requires all employees to respect the department, their authority, and their peers. He holds employees to the highest professional standards and expects them to act in a professional manner.”
