Bust out the champagne; Maryland has met its Obamacare enrollment goal!
Not the original goal of signing up 260,000 Maryland residents in the first enrollment period, No, no. I’m talking about the brand-new goal of 160,000. We’ve got it beat by 30,000!
Although this new, lower, already surpassed goal is terribly convenient for a state health exchange that has so far been nothing but an embarrassment, the Hilltop Institute — which computed the initial enrollment target — claims to have truly made an error in their projections that revolved around mistaking fiscal years for calendar years.
It’s fitting that a program so riddled with glitches should be saved by an error.
