What a cool way to make a living. 24-year-old Tristan Herbert designs custom cellphone cases for celebrities. He designs them for non-celebrities, too, of course. And plenty. But he’s designed cases for professional athletes like the WNBA’s Skylar Diggins, the NFL’s Senio Kelemete, Quintin Dunbar, and Brandon Pettigrew, and the NBA’s LeBron James. He even made custom cases for Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj!
Herbert was interviewed by Baltimore Business Journal about his businesses — he also sells clothing and non-cellphone art — where I discovered my favorite part of his business model: he charges celebrities the same as everyone else.
“It wouldn’t be fair for me to not charge them and then go and ask the average Joe for $200 when they’re working,” he said. “These people they have it.”
Sound logic! And it must be nice for customers to know that they’re getting the same treatment as LeBron James.
