Presenting…yet another holiday craft shopping opportunity. And this is one of our personal favorites. For the last six years, MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) has hosted their own fabulous art market just in time for holiday shopping. The sale features original work by more than 300 MICA students, faculty, and staff. That’s 300 local folks whose entire education and professional lives revolve around creative expression and creation. These artists are often leaders in their fields, or working right on the cutting edge of their chosen medium. Truly, this is the place to find some of the most unique, stand-out gifts this season.
The one-of-a-kind items you’ll find here range from jewelry to stationery, to handmade books, mosaics, and paintings. The event is sponsored by the MICA Alumni Association, and helps to fund need-based scholarships for MICA students. The Art Market opens today and runs through Saturday. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is always that of a bustling marketplace full of skilled crafts-people and enthusiastic shoppers with a discerning eye. Seriously, for your own good, don’t miss this one.
The MICA Art Market rund from December 5th-8th from 10a.m. until 6 p.m. in the Leidy Atrium and Falvey Hall lobby of Brown Center, 1301 W. Mount Royal Ave in Baltimore.
