The Baltimore-born swimmer Michael Phelps — also known as the greatest Olympian of all-time — is getting his comeback into full swing, winning three gold medals at the Pan Pacific Championships in Australia, which ended Sunday.
It’s an improvement over his performance at the US Championships earlier this month, where he didn’t win a thing. All in all, he’s only four months in on a comeback following an abbreviated “retirement.” As far as he’s right on track. “I think for my first real international meet back we accomplished everything we wanted to,” he said.
Phelps said the competition shed light on “some of the things that I need to improve on over the next year” as he eyes the 2015 world championships in Kazan, Russia.
