Black bears have been showing up at Baltimore County residences a lot lately, and the unannounced visits aren’t going to stop anytime soon, WJZ reports.
In case you’re sticking red pins on a map, this most recent sighting occurred on York Road in Parkton.
Natural Resources Police say that black bears will likely continue to appear in Baltimore County backyards deep into August, as they look for food. WJZ cites experts who say these bears can smell food from 20 miles away.
Sorta sounds to me like they were taking the bear’s word for it. In any case, people are advised to remove anything remotely food-like (including “birdfeeders, trash and even grills”) from their yards.
You can watch video of the most recent sighting here (taken by the residents from safely within their home).
