catch of the day fish (2)For most, owning one’s own home remains an essential part of the American Dream. And luckily, we live in a town where that can be relatively achievable. The city is full of gorgeous architecture, charming neighborhoods, and a huge variety of homes, from super chic condos to historic Victorian mansions. And since we love it here, we know that buying a home here is always a good idea. It’s not just a wise financial investment — home prices in Baltimore have remained quite stable throughout the last several years, rather than crashing like in so many parts of the country — it’s also a way to really invest in your city and your community, and to really put down roots. That’s why Live Baltimore offers the twice yearly Buying Into Baltimore event — to make it even easier and more appealing to do just that. The fall event is September 27, so we’re giving you plenty of time to save the date.

Buying Into Baltimore is essentially a home buying incentive event. It offers participants (that’s you, we hope) a chance to meet with real estate experts and community organizations, to sit in on home buying workshops, take a narrated bus tour of Baltimore neighborhoods, preview homes for sale, and (here’s the kicker) become eligible for $5,000 in downpayment and closing cost assistance toward the purchase of a home anywhere in Baltimore City. Um, insert slot machine jackpot sound effect here, right? There are thirty incentive awards available through each event, and the folks at the Buying Into Baltimore  event will happily walk you through the process. That’s why they’re there. Registering for the event ahead of time is necessary, but then, why wouldn’t you? A potential $5,000 toward closing costs and downpayment, guided  bus tour, insider information, and personalized guidance with a pretty huge decision. Could they make home buying in Baltimore anymore appealing? Probably not — but then, they really don’t need to.

Buying into Baltimore takes place September 278:30am-3:30pm at Baltimore Polytechnic High School (1400 W. Cold Spring Lane in Baltimore). Pre-registration and more information can be found at
