It’s official: the totally charming shopping and dining awesomeness of The Avenue in Hampden is unabashedly spilling out through the neighborhood, particularly down Chestnut Ave. Several new businesses popped up this summer (including The Charmery and Bazaar), with more on the way (like the oh-so-hotly-anticipated Paulie Gee’s Pizzeria that should be coming any day). Only a week or so ago, Mono Azul, a new children’s boutique opened its doors on Chestnut—offering both new and gently used children’s clothing, for newborns to 10 year-olds.
We’ve always loved the idea of clothing boutiques for children that sell both new and not-so-new items. After all, no matter how much you or your kid love a shirt or onesie or pair of pants, the fact is, that kids just grow so dang fast, that they won’t be able to wear it for long. And the expense of buying new clothes at every little growth spurt can add up for parents who want their kid to look fab. Plus, with seasonal items such as jackets or summer sun suits—they’re certainly not going to get more than a few months of wear. And with so many great vintage shops scattered around Hampden, it only makes sense that someone should also be catering to the younger fashion plates in our lives.
Mono Azul is located at 3528 Chestnut Ave in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.monoazulboutique.com.
