Otakon

Otakon, the annual convention for obsessive fans of Asian pop culture (anime, manga, video games, etc.), returns to Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Friday. So, assuming you’re not one of the more than 20,000 attendees, I suggest coming up with an excuse to head downtown this weekend. You’re sure to catch some stellar costumes as fans enter and exit the Baltimore Convention Center. If you can’t make it down, try keeping an eye on Craigslist’s missed connection, as there might be some gems there, too.

But you better enjoy the people watching (not to mention the economic boost) while it lasts! Otakon’s days in Baltimore are numbered. The convention is set to migrate to D.C. in 2017 because organizers say the BCC “has not aged gracefully.”

If you’re one of the initiated, there are still spots left for this year’s Otakon, which will feature some kind of mega 20th anniversary celebration of Sailor Moon.
