I wouldn’t necessarily say Maryland drivers are overqualified, so I’m hesitant to celebrate the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration’s decision to drop parallel parking from the driver’s tests statewide starting today. But I guess if I were fearing my driver’s test I’d be psyched.

An MVA spokesperson explained the rationale behind the decision to Montgomery Community Media:

“In analyzing the skills test, it was determined that the currently used 2-point reverse turn, when combined with the on-road portions or the test, adequately assessed the individual’s ability to operate the vehicle.”

Well, they’re the experts.
