The Throwaways
follows the formerly incarcerated community activist Ira McKinley as he explores the devastating impact of mass incarceration, public education deficits, racial profiling, and police brutality in black communities.

In this multiple award winning documentary, McKinley shares personal insights, powerful interviews, and an emotional press conference following the shooting of a young black man by police. Timely and provocative, this film speaks to the national movement rising up to fight against a wave of police killings, and is a call to action.

Winner Best Documentary Long Beach Indie and NY Hi-Light Harlem International Film Festival.
