The internet is a great place to learn how to do various tasks and hobbies yourself, but sometimes it also helps to learn in person. This weekend’s DIY Fest offers a full day of self-taught folks helping others get started.
The ninth edition of the fest is set for Saturday, Sept. 3, at 2640 St. Paul St. It’ll run 12-6 p.m. inside St. John’s Church.
The event features a day of workshops that cut across categories, showing that we can all be makers. There’s workshops on how to grow mushrooms, jam (as in, fruit), screen printing, cider and make-up. Dog training and paranormal activity are also on the agenda. And of course, we must mention the session on DIY Journalism, taught by publikprivate.org founder Jordannah Elizabeth.
The event is free, and also features tables showing off some local DIY results.
