Are you ready for some high drama this weekend? How’s this sound: When Lilly the mouse brings her purple plastic purse and its treasures to school for show and tell, her teacher, Mr. Slinger confiscates them. Lilly’s fury leads to revenge and then to remorse and she sets out to make amends. No, this is not one of the offerings at this weekend’s Maryland Film Festival; it’s the story of Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse, by Kevin Henkes. On Saturday, May 4, from 2 pm to 3 pm, Wee Chic Boutique will host Pumpkin Theatre as they perform a dramatic reading of this and other children’s tales.
Acting as Lilly, Jean Fiumara, will don mouse ears and offer children a pair to wear for some fun mouse photos. And since Lilly is the title character, that makes her the star—which means your little one could be rubbing mouse ears with a bona fide celebrity. The event is part of a new series of events at Wee Chic designed to engage family audiences and partner with family-focused organizations in and around Baltimore. Following the reading, children will have an opportunity to ask questions and play interactive games while you take the opportunity to peruse Wee Chic’s coolest new offerings—children’s clothing that is cool, comfortable, and that you haven’t already scrubbed multiple juice stains out of.
Wee Chic Boutique is located in Greenspring station, at 10751 Falls Rd. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP to Wee Chic at http://weechicandpumpkintheatre.eventbrite.com/
