Here in Baltimore, the color purple isn’t for little girls’ birthday parties. When you see the deep, rich hue adorning everything from your neighbor’s car, to second-story windows, to city monuments—you know it’s football season. And if you were within a 100-mile radius of the city last year, you know that we don’t mess around when it comes to Ravens pride. And while we can’t (we won’t!) make any predictions or commentary on how we expect the rest of this year’s season to go, we are more than happy to celebrate the season and enjoy every minute of it. A great new addition to our Ravens-full week? Purple Fridays at the Mt. Washington Tavern.
Sure, you hardly need another excuse to stop by the Mt. Washington Tavern. They’ve mastered that sort of old-time-inn-and-pub-but-you-still-feel-extremely-classy atmosphere. They’ve got an amazing beer list, and a super sweet happy hour. The food is great, and they’re constantly hosting special evenings and events. Well add this one on for the next couple of months: Purple Fridays with Jimmy. Stop by the tavern any Friday during football season for lunch specials like the Roseda Black Angus Farm Steak Burger ($9), the Chicken Quesadilla ($8), or a classic Grilled Rueben ($9). Not only that, when you show up for Purple Fridays, you get the chance to win a $25 gift certificate for your next visit to the MWT. All you need to do is (almost) accurately predict the score of the week’s game. Think you’ve got what it takes? Or are you just really excited about that burger?
Purple Fridays at the Mt. Washington Tavern run through the rest of the Ravens season. Hours are 11am-5pm. The Mt. Washington Tavern is located at 5700 Newbury St. in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.mtwashingtontavern.com.
