Cucumbers are the culprit in this latest salmonella outbreak, and now the outbreak may have spread to Maryland.
This current outbreak began last month. It has affected at least 732 people in 35 states; so far, 4 people have died. The cucumbers in question were labeled “Limited Edition” and originated in Mexico’s Rancho Don Juanito. Another company that worked with the same California vegetable distributor who shipped the Limited Edition cukes has also voluntarily recalled its veggies, which were sold under the brand Fat Boy.
According to the Baltimore Sun, a Maryland resident recently came down with salmonella–but because none of the cucumbers are believed to have been sold in-state, health officials suspect that the infected person may have bought the vegetable elsewhere.
