Included among the laudatory quotes that cycle on Sip & Bite’s website is this observation from the New York Times in 1993: “It could hardly be more authentically Baltimore.” It has something of a different ring to it 22 years later, as Sip & Bite owner Anthony Vasiliades faces charges of conspiring to possess and sell cocaine after being busted in a federal sting.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Vasiliades was arrested by Arlington, Va., police when he and an associate showed up to a parking lot to pay $50,000 to a confidential informant for two kilograms of cocaine. No court date has been set.
