There’s a new federal system that ranks hospitals on patient satisfaction, and no hospitals in Maryland earned a top rating of five stars, the Baltimore Sun reports. Only two received four stars: Johns Hopkins Hospital and Mercy Medical Center.
But the star-rating system is a little quirky. The Sun points out that “nearly all” of the 251 five-star hospitals in the United States “were either specialty hospitals that focused on lucrative surgeries or what it called ‘obscure local hospitals’ in largely rural states.”
So maybe four is the new five.
