True health and wellness takes work from a variety of angles. We all known the pitfalls of hitting the gym hard but following it up with a decadent triple-mocha-something-or-other; or hoping that simply eating a sugar-fat-carb-everything-free diet will magically transform us into chiseled, marathon-running super humans. Sadly, it doesn’t quite work like that. Anyone who really knows health (and believe us, the women behind Soul Body do), knows that you’ve got to combine diet, exercise, and even self care for the total package of feeling and looking great. And as we dive into fall (and yes, that is what’s happening, though the weather might not seem like it) Soul Body is offering the perfect workshop series for developing a total-body approach to health. Soul Body was created in 2010 by Ann Marie Barbour and Stacey Vandiver– two women with a passion for movement and a penchant for sharing the secrets for healthy living. They’ve become locally famous for their amazing barre workouts (that is, their workshop based on the barre routines responsible for ballet dancers’ incredibly toned bodies). But they’ve got so much to share beyond the barre, too.
This fall’s workshop series begins this Wednesday (September 10th) with a workshop on Brain & Body Boosting Smoothies. You’ll enjoy an invigorating 30-minute barre workout, followed by great tasting, nutrient-packed goodness in smoothie form. They’ll show you how easy it is to make amazing smoothies packed with super foods, veggies, and healthy proteins that support mental focus and physical endurance. Then you can come back for your next fix on the 24th for Great Grains & Amazing Greens, where you’ll discover the superhero-like powers of kale, quinoa, and more. After your 30-minute barre workout, of course. In October, they move onto recipes for healthy skin, and for a grand finale, the amazing health benefits of dark chocolates and biodynamic wine. Has wellness ever looked so appealing?
Soul Body’s Thrive Workshop Series will be held at the Institute for Integrative Health
(1407 Fleet Street in Baltimore). Workshops begin this Wednesday, Sept 10th from 5:30-7pm and continue throughout the fall. For complete dates, more information, or to register, visit www.tiih.org.
