One of the more primal viral videos to circulate recently was an Ohio hunter’s celebration after he speared a black bear in Canada. He didn’t end up getting charged by authorities. But if the incident happened against one of Maryland’s friendly neighborhood black bears, the state is proposing rules that would lead to penalties.According to the AP, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is proposing rules that would ban spear hunting in the state for big game. But it’s not a done deal yet. Public comments are being accepted through Oct. 17.

A second proposal concerns limiting air guns. They could only be used for the modern firearm season, and not the deer muzzleloader season.
